Abstract

Results of on-scene investigations of 61 crashes of school buses are summarized and reported. The most frequent crash-causing manoeuvres by bus drivers were improper turns, failure to yield, improper backing, and driving left of center. The results of the investigations are interpreted, recommendations are made, and summary descriptions of representative crashes are presented.
