Abstract

In the paper some results of theoretical analysis as well as laboratory investigations on effectiveness of geotextiles in asphalt overlays are presented. Theoretical approach was applied to analyze the stress distribution in widening of the road pavement with and without geotextiles, assuming the full or partial adhesion between the layers. In laboratory tests, samples of asphalt concrete with Polish polyester nonwoven geotextile and German geogrid HaTelit were submitted to repeated dynamic loads and to shearing stresses. On the basis of these results, in 1991 a series of experimental sections 1300 m long was constructed, on the international road E 40 (Wroclaw-Krakow-Lvov), section section Olkusz-Krakow. This year next project of application of geotextiles to pavement renovation, in that case to pavement surface treatment is prepared to implementation. (A) The German title of this article is: Untersuchungen der Eigenschaften der mit Geotextilien Verfestigten Asphaltbetonen.
