Investigations of driver sensory capability and its effect on the driving task.

Abstract

The finding of a three-year investigation of the relationship between drivers perceptual capabilities and their longitudinal driving performance are presented. The results of field studies of drivers perceptual characteristics, investigations of etstitieal relationship between these perceptual characteristcs and driving performance, and the development, structure and testing of a perceptually based model of the driver in performing the longitudinal control task is included.
