Abstract

This paper discusses some of the results of investigations of railroad-highway accident and inventory information which was collected from 15 states and three railroad companies. Statistical techniques were applied to tabulated data to obtain accident and accident severity prediction equations for various grade crossing situations. Interpretations of analysis results are discussed and illustrated. Uses of prediction equations in the development of warrants for safety improvements are also discussed.
