Abstract

The investment planning concept for planning road construction has been applied to the construction of regional motorways. The program has been considered both without and with the possibility of advance land purchase. The linear programming technique has been worked out by computer for the Chicago area network and results are discussed. A further advantage is that a sensitivity analysis is readily applicable, e.g. for different budgets and construction periods.
