Abstract
A study is made into the influence of the journey time on the recreation in the town centre of Amsterdam. Each individual tries to make his range as far as possible. In the leisure time the journey time is an important factor in the selection of the destination. People who have a whole day free are more likely to go outside the city. The increasing free time undermines the recreational function of the town centre.
