Abstract

The involvement of alcohol in road accidents in Victoria between 1980 and 1985 is examined. The way in which alcohol involvement is related to variables such as time of day, location, sex, age, and vehicle type is also examined. Accident data indicate that drivers involved in accidents that occur early in the morning, on Friday or Saturday, or those drivers that are male or relatively young are more likely to be alcohol affected than other drivers.
