Abstract

That the new growth management being built mainly at the local level will affect, decisively both land use and transportation planning is the basic theme of this paper. The clash between suburban and city governments in exercising new policies of growth management and control is discussed. New directions in land use planning are discussed and the idea that only by the effective combination of land use and transportation planning the objectives of growth management can be achieved is stressed.
