Abstract

The Intelligent Shared Vehicle Electronics (ISVE) project is developing the next generation of advanced vehicle scheduling, driver access, on-board data logging of vehicle use and billing for any of a variety of shared-vehicle fleets, including car sharing, and station car services. In addition to shared car services, these technologies improve cost effectiveness of the management of corporate and government fleets while increasing vehicle security. The available technologies under development are listed. The growth of "new mobility" services is severely hampered by the lack of reliable technology and, in some cases, is forced to rely on labour-intensive paper systems for scheduling, tracking and billing. In many cases, the various components needed for these systems are available in the marketplace today but they have never been put together for these applications. The ISVE Intelligent Shared Vehicle Electronics project brings together interested parties to share a stake in the development, commercialisation and marketing of these new technologies.
