Abstract

Many regions throughout this country have been suffering from serious problems such as aging and depopulation. On the other hand, the environmental situation surrounding each region has been changed greatly with the advance of mobile communication technology such as the cellular phone and communications satellites and the actualization of ITS conception such as VICS (Vehicle Information and Communication System). Therefore, the Kochi Prefecture implemented the "Field experiment for advanced local information services in car society KoCoRo '95: Kochi Communication Road '95". This was oriented for advanced local information services and revitalization from the ITS field, and was based on "Michi-no-Eki" (road stations). Kochi has reported the result at the 3rd ITS World Congress '96 in Orlando. Based on this study, Kochi has planned a new field experiment KoCoRo '97 which is to be started from this Autumn 1997. The purposes of this paper are to define a theme for the field experiment, to extract every technical requirement to realize the theme, and to study the system based on those requirements.
