Abstract

Information technology has enormous potential to support sustainable transportation policy. Maintaining existing systems; striving for accessibility and efficiency [rather than the more traditional approach of increasing capacity] promoting fair-pricing strategies; and combining environment, economy and equity in transportation decision making. This paper considers the NZ Energy Efficiency And Conservation Strategy and how ITS initiatives can help achieve some of its objectives.
