Abstract

In order to provide equal access to the transport system, special consideration must be given to children and the disabled. Arrangements using ITS applications can help provide safe and secure access to the transport system. Use of the transport system also requires that users feel safe from the risk of being subjected to criminal offences. Such feelings can directlyinfluence the choice of transport. This paper discusses how ITS can be used for especially vulnerable users, children and the disabled being the main target groups. The feeling of security, generally very subjective, may be reinforced through various ITS based measures. For the covering abstract see ITRD E134653.
