In October 1990, Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, Inc. (JAMA) drew up Safety Guidelines for In-vehicle Monitor Systems that were targeted primarily at car navigation systems. The first report on JAMA's activity regarding the safety of in-vehicle information systems explained the basic portions of the guidelines. This paper describes newly added guidelines concerning the monitor location of image display devices and the test results on which the guidelines are based. These provisions were drawn up and newly adopted when the guidelines were revised in February 2000.
