Abstract

Two conflicting requirements emerged from the main project. A large sample of data is required to produce significant results, but in order to maintain tight control on patrolling and the recording of police activity, the experiment should be relatively small. It was therefore decided to examine the effect of changes in patrolling on certain aspects of driver behaviour. This part of the report describes preliminary work done in this area, and work planned for the future.
