This issue of Current Topics in Transport includes over 80 abstracts of some of the published literature (reports, conference papers, books and journal articles) on commuting by public and private transport. Topics covered include car and van pooling, the implications of teleworking, traffic management, demand modelling and the effect of passenger and driver information systems on commuter behaviour in route selection. These items have been selected from the material added to the Transport Research Laboratory's Library Database between 1993 and 1996. Much of the relevant English language literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Road Research Documentation (IRRD) database.
