Abstract

This issue of Current Topics includes over 70 abstracts of reports, conference papers, books and journal articles on the geometric design, layout, specification, modelling and safety aspects of large, small and signalised roundabouts and crossroads, T and staggered junctions in the UK and overseas. Specific topics covered include capacity and sight distance, entry treatments, signalisation, effectiveness of roundabouts in accident reduction, and safety of vulnerable users such as cyclists and elderly people. These items have been selected from the material added to the Transport Research Laboratory's Library Database between 1998 and 2002. Much of the relevant English language published literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Transport Research Documentation (ITRD) database. Abstracts for the years 1990-1997 can be found in a previous issue of this title: Current Topics in Transport 122 (C 10578 S / IRRD 895810).
