Abstract

The report deals with the effect of salting on the number of traffic accidents on the Swedish road network. No reduction was shown during 1970 to 1974 and an estimate of the accident rate for different road conditions in 1973 indicates that salting has no accident-reducing effect. However, since these investigations were non-experimental, it is not said that salting has no effect on traffic safety.
