Abstract

This bulletin presents provisional statistics of injury road accidents (road accidents in which one or more people were killed or injured) in Scotland in 2006. The data were obtained from the Scottish Executive's road accidents statistical database. In 2006, 314 people were killed in road accidents in Scotland, 28 more than in 2005. There was a provisional total of 2,594 people reported as seriously injured in road accidents in 2006. Therewere 369 children killed or seriously injured in 2006. A provisional total of 10,596 car users were reported as injured in road accidents in 2006. The statistics are compared with those of previous years and with target figures.
