Abstract

If the growing number of old people in the United Kingdom are to retain their independence for as long as possible, their mobility needs must be met. Recent developments in safer transport include road safety devices, the safety record of older drivers, health and driving licenses, policy, advice and retraining for older drivers, and adapting cars for older drivers. It is considered appropriate that fit and healthy individuals continue to drive well into their later years.
