Abstract
This first report from the research project ''Car-lights'' conducted by the Norwegian Central Institute for Industrial Research deals with running lights. The experiments with the use of fixed running lights during daylight in the U.S.A. and Finland are discussed. Observations in the Oslo region showed that the use of running lights today is not uniform. The introduction of fixed low beam headlights for running lights is suggested.
