Abstract

It has been proved that certain colours increase the visibility of objects being part of the road environment and thus allow for a quicker and more efficient reaction. This study examines the possible influence of a well-advised choice of the colours of road signals, ground markings, vehicles and the garments of pedestrians. It is concluded that a well-advised choice of the colours can ease the task of the drivers and that it can consequently contribute to a greater road safety.
