Abstract

KBE-SmartLite is a collection of software tools for lighting product design which is integrated with the I-DEAS computer-aided design system and is also available through a web interface. It supports lighting design, optics feasibility studies, and manufacturing and tooling processes, by combining in a central repository all the currently existing knowledge and practices of lighting system development. It also turns all the regulatory requirements, functional requirements, material requirements and light source requirements into mathematically definable functions. The system capabilities, design standardisation, standard adjustment features and components, bulb and sockets database, standard features library, optics feasibility features, lumens calculator, reflex area calculator, optics feasibility checker, computer aided design utilities, sharing the design knowledge database, and lamp position checker are described. For the covering abstract see ITRD E123380.
