Abstract

The current available datasets often do not contain all the relevant data that researchers need for their analyses. The merging of several datasets into one large data file containing all the required information seems to be a solution. The results of research undertaken by the Foundation for Economic Research of the University of Amsterdam indicate that merging data sets is a good technique for constructing a simulation database; for causal analyses on the other hand merged datasets are not adequate.
