Abstract

This probational report is divided into three chapters. Chapter one explains what cost-benefit analysis is and how it can be applied to traffic situations. A model is developed to estimate the gain on time in business and in private traffic due to a number of traffic lights in Rotterdam. Chapter two discusses the calculation of the costs of accidents in Rotterdam during 1970. Chapter three examines the effects of a number of traffic lights on the number of accidents.
