This report comprises descriptive statistics concerning body dimensions, joint positions, reach and space requirements for men and women over the age range of 18-70 years. Data are reported on height, width and depth requirements in the standardised anthropometric sitting posture and related to age, sex and total body length. In a separate part the positions of the joints of the limbs and other ergonomically important points on the human body are reported as distances from the hip joint for different body sizes. This makes it possible for all reported results to be related to any sitting posture where the position of the hip joint is known, as for instance in motor vehicles. The study is carried out in accordance with corresponding reports on body dimensions in the sitting posture from other countries. Thereby comparisons between these materials are simplified regarding the separate measurements and the variation of these dimensions between various groups of the population.
