A simulation model has been developed to describe the operational quality of bicycle traffic on separate cycle paths for one and two directional traffic. The criterion for the quality is the amount of discomfort or hindrance that is experienced by the riders when involved in manoeuvres such as overtaking and meeting. Three types of users are used in the model: solo bikes, bikes riding side by side (duo's) and mopeds. With the model the frequencies of the manoeuvres are determined. For each type of manoeuvre an amount of hindrance is assigned, dependent on the type of manoeuvre, the parties involved and the width of the path. The scores have been obtained by means of an inquiry under experts at bicycle traffic. (A)
