Abstract

The Dutch government has the policy to decrease the car mobility. One of the measures is to establish enterprises and industry on those places which are suitable to take care of the quantity of the car traffic which they attract or produce. Part of the measure is that people do not have to come to their work by car but that they can come by public transport or by the bicycle or even as a pedestrian. To force the workers not to use the car, the number of parking places are determined in dependence with the accessibility of the place of work by public transport or by bicycle. For the province of Limburg these measures are studied in more detail and difference is made between urban and rural areas.
