Abstract

The New Regional Model (NRM) is being developed by the Dutch Transport Research Centre (AVV) of the Ministry of Transport and Public Works. One important element of this new development is the "Quality Assurance Traffic Forecasting Models" project. The aim of this project is the development and introduction of a quality assurance system being part of the regional traffic forecasting procedure. This paper elaborates the framework of a study which aims at "translating" requirements formulated by potential users of the NRM with respect to model application into elements of a quality assurance system. Therefore, the main components of the information system (input/output data, models, hardware/software, procedures and people) are subdivided into process components. For each process component the user requirements are compared to the quality of the information offered by the existing models and by the NRM. This comparative analysis results in the formulation of a programme for quality assurance of the NRM. (A)
