Abstract

The expenditures of households on transport are analysed. The general conclusion is that other household characteristics beside car-ownership determine the budget share of traffic and transport in total consumption. By careful segmentation, with special attention to life-style variables, some homogeneous household groups can be formed with a more or less constant budget share of traffic and transport.
