Abstract

In 1978 the government of Quebec broke with tradition concerning vehicle insurance by installing a system of indemnity for bodily injury without regard to fault. It conferred the business to a public corporation created specifically for this purpose. The 1986 results indicate a real gain for the insured and a growth in public responsibility for road safety with a commitment of the population to this objective. The paper will tries by representing a summary of the insurance system and the mandate of the company to highlight the particularities of this system.
