Abstract

The latent conflicts between vehicle dimensions and human body dimensions are analysed. The driver's positions are studied when passive and active. Research is suggested into the ways fast tiring of the driver's muscles could be prevented. The necessity of adjusting the steering and control mechanisms from the driver's point of view is stressed. The need for a rigorous analysis of the relationship between number, severity and nature of accidents on the one hand and the particular design of vehicles on the other hand in order to indicate the tolerable limits in the variation of vehicle design is expressed.
