Abstract

A study has been conduted to determine practical laboratory methods of testing breakaway supports to assure their effectiveness in automobile/support impacts. A computer model has been developed to simulate an automobile colliding with a luminaire or sign support equipped with a breakaway base. The study set up and the results of the study are presented.
