Abstract

On the basis of specifications from industry and a review of pertinent literature, twelve performance type alcohol Safety Interlock Systems (ASIS) were examined by the Transportation Systems Centre of the U.S. Department of Transportation. Ten of these devices underwent laboratory screening evaluations designed to determine to what extent performance on each device was correlated with blood alcohol level.
