Abstract

The Hybrid III head is the state- of- the- art test device used to assess the significance of head impacts that occur during the evaluation of automotive occupant restraint systems. It is representative in size, shape and inertial properties of an average size adult male. This paper describes the features of the Hybrid III head and how it is used to assess the injury potential of head impacts.
