Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to explore the best safety system of restraint in order to minimize injury to the thorax. The study used the Hybrid III and the THOR Dummies in frontal crash sled tests and concluded that the best system of restraint was to combine a 4kN load limiter belt with an airbag as opposed to using just a 6kN load limiter belt.
