Abstract

This articles reviews the basic principles as well as the main rules for the design of urban intersections with and without light signalling. Also indicated are criteria justifying an installation with signals as well as various operating strategies for light signals. A simplified method for the comparison of intersections with and without light signalling. also indicated are the criteria justifying an installation with signals as well as various operating strategies for light signals. Finally, the article briefly discusses the equipment of intersections with removable metallic viaducts and underground passages of small width.
