Abstract

There are many examples of discord between land use and traffic safety. Typical of these are shopping centers straddling important arteries; schools separated from the neighbourhood they serve by heavily travelled roads; and so on. All of these situations give rise to incompatible traffic uses and characteristics which cause confusion, conflicts, and accidents. Land use planners and engineers must more cooperate.
