Lane keeping and speed choice with restricted sight distances.

Abstract

When drivers are confronted with a limited sight distance it is likely that boundary crossing error will increase. Normally these errors will be compensated to some extent by selecting an appropriate speed. The aim of this research was to study the degree to which drivers actually use speed adjustment when confronted with a restricted sight distance. in a driving simulator boundary crossing errors and speed behaviour as a function of available sight distance were evaluated.
