Abstract

During the years 1974 to 1976 the Department of Traffic Planning and Engineering at Lund Institute of Technology carried out studies of a special speed limit to 30 km /h outside schools. The experiments covered both ordinary and changeable signs. Results from two experiments with each type of signs showed that a speed limit through ordinary signs decreased speed with about 6 km /h and through changeable signs with about 11 km /h.
