Abstract

This paper describes the CARMINAT evaluation project due to be started at the end of 1994. It consists of full-scale experimentation of real time traffic information and route guidance services in the Ile de France area. A fleet of more than 300 cars equipped with a range of on-board devices will be lent to a large sample of drivers during a three month period. Brief details of the experimental design are provided. This includes the methods for: a) data collection; b) data dissemination and processing; c) information coding and broadcasting; d) the design of the man-machine interface; and e) the methodology.
