Abstract

The IBEO LD laser scanner can be used for a wide range of applications. Based on the measured range profiles, the scanner calculates the desired information of the objects in its field of view, e.g. size and velocity. Therefore the current and reliable traffic data needed for an intelligent traffic control can be gathered by this laser scanner. This paper describes the use of laser scanners for traffic counting and classification. Furthermore the employment in the field of traffic light control and parking guidance is given.
