Abstract

Within the framework of searching for effective and lasting solutions to the crisis facing urban transport since the 1980s, the Senegalese government has begun to reform that sector. This reform attempt is set up as part of the World Bank transport program in Sub-Saharan Africa. One of the main objectives is to make transport sector more attractive to private sector. To oversee the reform effort, the government set up the Dakar Urban Transportation Executive Council (DUTEC), an agency that has a professional public corporation status and is responsible for implementing all projects relating to the improvement of urban transport in Dakar area. The English title of the paper is: "The reform project of the urban transport in Senegal."
