Abstract

After an unfortunate experience of urban public transport that ended in the liquidation of the public corporation of urban transport (RMTU) in 1982, the town of Lomé (Togo) is seeking the ways and means to set up a combined system of urban transport: motorbike taxis or taxi bikes, minibuses and suburban trains. The public authorities need partners to set up transport companies that would provide 30 minibuses with 25 to 30 seats departing every 30 minutes on major highways. However, the present system of collective taxis will not be abandoned. (A) the English title of the paper is: "The role of the city of Lomé in urban transport".
