Abstract

The author begins by examining the motorist's negative reaction to the presence of lorries in town centres, essential nonetheless if shops are to be supplied. Limitations on delivery and waiting times must not be excessive if important lorry and van services to the community are not to be unduly disrupted, improved town centre loading and unloading facilities for lorries and improved parking facilities for all vehicles are more positive elements in a solution to the problem.
