Abstract

Quality of life, accessibility and sustainability are key concepts in three recently published Dutch government policy papers with a long term view on the spatial development of the Netherlands that are of direct interest to the transport field. The reports are respectively: the National Traffic and Transport Plan (NVVP), the fourth National Environment Plan, and the fifth Note on Spatial Planning. The concepts are however not defined unambiguously and this raises the question as to what the consequences are for spatial policy development. This paper presents an analysis of the individual concepts and their possible combinations in relation to spatial policymaking. (A) For the covering abstract of the conference see ITRD E206647.
