Abstract

Traffic participants are expected to build a behavioural repertory that guarantees safe traffic participation as much as possible. The greater part of this repertory is achieved by planned education, from early childhood. Many persons and organisations are involved in educational activities for different groups. In order to connect various activities and to improve the effect of educational activities, co-ordination is seen as an important means by the joint Regional and Provincial Committees for Traffic Safety (ROV's/POV's). A lifelong coherent succession of educational activities is pursued. For this approach the term: permanent traffic education (PVE) has been introduced. Educational activities are planned if existing conditions for knowledge, abilities and attitudes do not sufficiently warrant safe behaviour, and when such conditions are not autonomously fulfilled. (Author/publisher)
