Central in this study is the evaluation of a prototype of an innovative driver training program, called PACT. The prototype is defined in terms of educational goals and methods as well as the simulator technology being used. The effectiveness of the training, consisting of six lessons of one and a half hour each, is assessed by 1) judgements of the six participating novice subjects with respect to the modules; 2) analysis of variables such as lateral position on the road, speed control and other operational variables and 3) the judgement of the trainee's driving behaviour at the end of the training by a highly experienced driver instructor.
