Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to examine whether different models of car differ in the leg injury received by their drivers in road accidents, in order to develop useful design guides for the parcel shelf and other components of the 'leg impact area". Accident samples were taken from police accident forms, restricted to serious accidents in order to include an appreciable number of major leg injuries. The analysis took into account the type of accident, as well as the model of car.
