Abstract

Leg injuries are a serious problem in motorcycle accidents.A series of controlled impact tests are described in which motorcycles with dummy riders ran obliquely into a flat, rigid barrier to simulate a common type of accident in which the riders leg is trapped between the motorcycle and the impacted object. The development of the test techniques described together with its use the evaluation of three types of leg protectors.
