An experiment was carried out to evaluate the effects of a schoolyard training for young cyclists. The training is part of "Straatwerk" ("Streetwork"), which is a recently developed Dutch traffic safety programme for primary school children. Theschoolyard training package not only deals with the cycling task, but also with the pedestrian task. Basic skills and behaviour strategies are practised at the schoolyard, where different traffic situations can be simulated with the materials belonging to the package.
